OFCA and the Infocomm Media Development Authority (“IMDA”) of Singapore held a bilateral meeting from 11 to 12 June 2024 in Singapore. The two delegations, led respectively by Mr Chaucer Leung, Director-General of Communications, and Ms Aileen Chia, Deputy Chief Executive and Director-General (Telecoms and Post) of IMDA, shared the latest developments in the telecommunications markets as well as measures to combat scam calls and messages in both jurisdictions. Exchanges were also made on spectrum planning, licensing matters and network infrastructure. During the meeting, OFCA and IMDA signed a Memorandum of Understanding to further strengthen the collaboration in tackling scam and spam communications. Thanks to the arrangement by IMDA, OFCA also visited Singapore Telecommunications Limited to keep abreast of the new development of 5G networks and services in Singapore.
