The Office of the Communications Authority (OFCA) is organising the “5G Campus Application Competition” under the theme “5G x AI – Smart Living and Learning Anytime Anywhere” (Competition) for all secondary school students to participate. The organiser has received registration applications of 51 teams from 42 schools.
In order to let participating teams learn more about 5G and AI technologies and provide them with inspirations for creating their own projects, the organiser held a 1.5-day 3-session training workshops on 13 and 20 July. Apart from inviting six distinguished speakers, who are veteran professionals from four local mobile network operators and I&T industry, to share the applications of 5G and AI technologies with the participating students, the training also included a proposal writing workshop to teach the students how to transform their innovative ideas into concrete projects.
The students were also arranged to visit the AI Applications Hall of the Hong Kong Productivity Council with an aim to facilitate them to have an in-depth understanding of the practical applications of 5G and AI technologies in various industries.
The objectives of the Competition are to enhance secondary school students’ understanding of 5G and AI technologies and their learning ability in science and technology, thereby improving their collaboration and problem-solving abilities, and motivating them to actively participate in the development of advanced technology industries in the future.
