OFCA's Participation in Mobile World Congress, Barcelona 2025
OFCA's representatives joined the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, from 3 to 5 March 2025 (MWC25). MWC25 was attended by over 100,000 participants from 205 countries and territories. It was recognised as one of the largest and most influential conference cum exhibition showcasing the latest innovations, technologies, and trends in mobile communications.
During MWC25, OFCA's representatives mainly took part in the Ministerial Programme for exchange with high-level government officials and industry leaders of other economies. Mr. Chaucer Leung, Director-General of Communications, was invited to speak in the session "Spectrum Decisions: What Will it Take for 5G Success?" He shared the Hong Kong's experience in 5G development, including how the spectrum decisions regarding supply, assignment, and pricing collectively achieved a 5G penetration rate exceeding the population, the facilitative measures to support the 5G network rollout, and how to prepare for the challenges and opportunities that come with next-generation mobile services. OFCA's representatives also visited the exhibition halls and had on-site meetings with a number of exhibitors during the event.
