    Introduction

    To further enhance public awareness of using communications services smartly, the Communications Authority has launched the “Smart Use of Communications Services” Consumer Education Campaign which will run from August 2022 to March 2023.

    Roving Exhibitions

    A series of roving exhibitions themed “Smart Use of Communications Services”, consisting of the display of informative panels, broadcast of consumer education short videos, game booths and distribution of various publicity materials and souvenirs, will be organised by the Communications Authority to provide the public with useful tips on how to choose and use communications services smartly.

    Public Seminar

    Communication services have already become an important part of the daily lives of the general public with rapid developments after the launch of 5G services in Hong Kong. Facing so many communication service choices, how can we be a savvy communication services user? You will find answers to the above question at the "Be a Smart Communications Services User" public seminar.

    The topics to be covered at the seminar are as follows:

    • The developments and applications of 5G services in Hong Kong
    • Smart use of 5G and mobile data services
    • Understanding consumer protection measures of telecommunications services
    • Radiation safety of mobile communications
    • Stay vigilant to suspected phone scams

    Community Talk Programme

    In order to further promote consumer messages on smart use of communications services at the community level, the Communications Authority has launched a Community Talk Programme on "Smart Use of Communications Services". The topics to be covered at the community talks:

    • Advice to telecommunications service users
    • Advice on 5G services and selection of 5G devices
    • Real-name registration programme for SIM cards
    • Stay vigilant to suspected phone scams
    • Tips on smart use of mobile data services
    • Understanding consumer protection measures of communications services

    The Communications Authority will organise a series of mini exhibitions themed "Smart Use of Communications Services" at different venues to educate the public about how to choose and use communications services smartly. Details are as follows:

    Roving Drama for Schools

    As part of the Consumer Education Campaign 2022/23, the Communications Authority has commissioned Spring-Time Experimental Theatre to stage a roving drama named “5G Live Broadcast KOL” at local primary schools to promote smart use of communications services, including smart selection of 5G services and handsets, smart choice of Wi-Fi Devices, stay vigilant to suspected phone scams, and protection of mobile phone’s data, etc.

    Performance-related Matters
    • To be performed in Cantonese;
    • Duration of each drama performance is 30 minutes followed by a 10-minute Q&A session.

    School Talks

    Smart communications devices, such as smartphones and tablets, are commonly used by youngsters in their daily lives for learning, entertainment and social networking nowadays. In order to enhance their awareness of how to use communications and data services smartly, the Communications Authority will organise a series of school talks. The talks will be conducted in Cantonese. Each will last for 35 minutes followed by a 10-minute Q&A session. The topics to be covered at the talks are as follows:

    • The developments and applications of 5G services in Hong Kong
    • Smart use of 5G and mobile data services
    • Protection of your mobile phone’s data
    • Stay vigilant to suspected phone scams
    • Smart use of Wi-Fi equipment and service
