To track the changes of viewing and listening habits of the general public and solicit their views on the broadcasting services, the Office of the Communications Authority (OFCA) has commissioned an independent survey firm, viz. NielsenIQ (Hong Kong) Limited (NielsenIQ) to conduct an opinion survey on broadcasting services (Survey) from June to September 2024.

To ensure that every household unit in Hong Kong has an equal chance of being selected for the Survey, sampled households are selected randomly. OFCA has issued letters to the sampled households, inviting them to call NielsenIQ’s designated hotline for making appointments for telephone or face-to-face interviews. The relevant household member could also complete and submit an online questionnaire. The sample letter is attached at Annexfor reference. A unique serial number is provided on the top right hand corner of each letter for the selected household to verify the authenticity of the Survey with the survey firm.

To facilitate the selected households to verify the identity of the enumerators or to update information, in addition to NielsenIQ's enquiry hotline (3755 3490), OFCA's designated hotline (2961 6448) ¹ is also set out in the letter so that they can contact the officers of OFCA to verify the authenticity of the Survey or make enquiries related thereto.

The views collected from the selected households in the Survey are very important to OFCA in understanding the needs of the public on broadcasting services. Therefore, we appeal to all the selected households to actively participate in the Survey.
