    In Hong Kong, mobile services operate in certain frequency bands using various technical standards.  The table below shows the frequency bands assigned for mobile services and the technical standards adopted by the mobile operators as of 30 September 2024.

    Depending on the network designs of mobile operators, different operators may provide mobile services in the frequency bands assigned to them using different technical standards and their respective network coverage areas may also vary.  Consumers should contact individual mobile operators direct for details about the frequency bands and technical standards used by them for provision of mobile services. 

    Note: GSM is 2G technology; UMTS is 3G technology; FDD-LTE and TD-LTE are 4G technologies; and NR FDD and NR TDD are 5G technologies.
