Wow! This label is so pretty! What is this for? |
Lambert | : |
This "Fibre-to-the-Building" label is issued by the Communications Authority. |
Lambert | : |
This stands for an optical fibre network has been installed within the boundary of the residential or non-residential building. The network operator has connected the network with the premises via copper cable. The transmission speed could be up to hundreds of Mbit per second, which is equivalent to the transmission of tens of photos per second. |

Is fibre only connected to the building? How about the fibre connection with the premises? |
Lambert | : |
In fact, there is another label called "Fibre-to-the-Home". |
Lambert | : |
It means that the optical fibre network has been connected all the way to the premises. The transmission speed could be up to thousands of Mbit per second, which is equivalent to the transmission of a DVD movie in a minute. |

Where can I check whether the building I reside in is “Fibre-to-the-Home” or “Fibre-to-the-Building”? |

You may find out from the Register of Buildings with Optical Fibre Access Networks at the website of the Office of the Communications Authority. |
